In our new class schedule, Block 1 meets every day.  The first 45 minutes each Monday through Friday will be devoted to the subject content noted on your student’s schedule (ex. Block 1 English).  These instructional minutes add up to the same number of minutes as our other classes that meet in longer blocks (90 minutes) less frequently.  On Tuesday through Friday, the 45 minutes which follow Block 1 are called Block 1A on the student schedules.  Block 1A will be a time when an array of experiences will be scheduled.  Examples include:  additional content instruction, assemblies, 7^th & 8^th grade clubs, 6^th grade SODA/mentoring, etc. Students are scheduled in Block 1A with effort made to match student learning needs to the extra instructional minutes that are available during Block 1A. The assignment of students to Block 1A is determined by administrators, counselors and teachers.
