Greetings,

And welcome to the Fairfield Middle School Falcon family!  This year, our school-wide theme is “It’s Our Time—Right Now!” as we proudly celebrate remaining one of Henrico County’s fully accredited middle schools! 

Fairfield Middle School is an IB world school.  Here, our school-wide focus continues to be excellence in learning and academic achievement for all students. We will continue to do this by:

• reviewing State and County assessment data, and using it to affect instruction in all grades and content areas;

• creating classrooms that are welcoming, practical, and conducive to learning and to a positive school climate where students feel safe and supported;

• creating instructional environments that host a variety of strategies and research-based best practices in order to meet the learning needs of every student, and to lead the way in 21^st century teaching and learning; and

• collaborating effectively with fellow teachers on a local and global scale, incorporating technology to enhance classroom instruction, and by participating in on-going professional development in standards based instruction.

We believe that this plan will afford every student with a solid foundation in becoming lifelong learners and productive citizens, able to participate fully and intelligently in decision-making, both socially and politically.  Our students will communicate and collaborate effectively, lead the way through creation and innovation, solve problems and think critically, and utilize research methods to access and evaluate information.

Parents, we continue to invite you to be full participants in the instructional process as we challenge our students to reach their full potential.  Do this by checking homework, monitoring behavior, and communicating regularly with teachers and administrators.  BE INVOLVED! Participate as active members of the PTSA and support the school’s numerous academic and extracurricular programs.  And never lose sight of the fact that your child, and your child’s school, does indeed need YOU!
