Federal Programs
The goal of Federal Programs is to address the diverse needs of the schools and students in Henrico County. Funds are used to afford schools with additional opportunities to support programs and initiatives for students at risk of not meeting local and state academic standards. Currently, there are 22 elementary schools directly utilizing federal and state funding in Henrico County. Federal Programs staff strives for maximum parental involvement at the school and district level.

Federal Programs includes those affected by the No Child Left Behind legislation of 2001, such as Title I and its many parts: Virginia Preschool Initiative, Head Start, Continuous School Improvement, Distinguished Schools and Comprehensive School Reform.

Title II addresses teacher and principal training, and Enhancing Education through Technology. Title III (Part A) covers English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement and Academic Achievement. Title IV pertains to Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities, and 21st Century Learning Centers; Title IX, part of the Education Amendments of 1972, provides for gender equity.
