Welcome Twin Hickory Trailblazers!
As we enter 2012 the THES Trailblazers are full steam ahead! Each day as I make my way in and out of the classroom it's such a joy to see the students actively engaged in 21st Century Skills that involve creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and problem solving. Teachers will be taking their instruction to the next level with the addition of ActivSlates later this month. Due to the financial support of our outstanding PTA here at THES, 20 ActivSlates will become available for classroom instruction. These interactive "notebook sized slates" allow teachers and students access to an interactive whiteboard in the palm of their hands. All features and resources that accompany a Promethean Board can be done now on this device. We will begin training for staff in early January. Check out the link below to get a sneak peek.

Thank you so much for the support of our "Power of One Tree". This year we sponsored Johnson Elementary and the many families there who were in need of our support. Mrs. Sower, our former assistant principal, expressed her most sincere gratitude as she shared stories of smiles, hugs, and tears as the parents picked up the gifts. You all made such a difference in the lives of the families at Johnson Elementary!
Your year-around gifts of support, encouragement, and volunteer time are so very appreciated. All of us here at THES hope that you and your family enjoyed a lovely break, and we wish you all the best in 2012.
