Principal's Message

I continue to be so proud of our students and their accomplishments! Christopher D. is Springfield Park's spelling bee winner!  He competed at the county spelling bee on January 23rd.

Congratulations also to Alana D. who is our "Light of Hope" representative.  Alana was honored at a recent commemoration ceremony for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Alana was selected because of her leadership and community service.

I would like to thank everyone for their generosity with our recent service projects.  This includes the canned goods for the Food Bank and the donations to Children's Hospital.  We presented Children's Hospital with a check for $700.00!

We are very fortunate to have Ms. ViLinda Hill at Springfield Park as our school counselor.  Ms. Hill wears "many hats" each day as she works with students, teaches lessons, assists teachers and parents, and implements different programs that support our school.  One of these includes the Peer Ambassadors program.  I know you will join me in thanking her for what she does each day at our school.  The week of February 6th is School Counseling Week.

Springfield Park has a faculty "that rocks"!  Our teachers are committed to excellence.  Please consider nominating a teacher for the prestigious REB award. Winners of this award receive grant money to pursue studies in a particular location within Virginia, the United States, or other countries.  We have details and forms in the office, and the deadline is February 23rd.  Nomination forms are also available at REB Award Nominations.

We have over 200 students who are dropped off each morning in front of the school. Please be reminded that:
a.   Students can only be dropped off in the car rider circle.
b. Students must wait until an adult is standing in front of the school on duty before getting out of the car.  (7:20 a.m.)
c. Students need to get out of the car on the side facing the school.
d. Students need to be at school by 7:50.

If your child is able to ride the bus, I would encourage this.  I appreciate your help with keeping our children safe.

It is hard to believe that we will soon be starting the third grading period.  Thank you for your support of education at home.  Continue to address problems and concerns as they arise and let us know when we can assist you.

Sincerely,
Tammy Jones
