In cooperation with the Henrico County Police and Fire
Departments, the Henrico County Public Schools Office of Safety completes a comprehensive
safety audit of
schools every three years. The purpose of the audit is to encourage schools to
continue to implement best practices and to make recommendations for continuous
improvement of the school’s safety policies and crisis preparedness plans. In
preparation for the audit, school faculties work together to review, update,
and improve their safety guidelines. Shady Grove’s Comprehensive Audit was
conducted on January 27, and we look forward to sharing information about the
Audit Team’s report with you shortly.
Meanwhile, here is some “news you can use” and some
highlights of the month ahead:
This
summer Henrico County’s Construction and Maintenance Department will
replace our school’s boilers and chillers. While we will be unable to host
the Summer Blast Program for 2012, this popular program will be available at
other sites in the area. Thank you for your understanding.
As
stated in our Parent/Student Handbook, parent volunteers must inform
teachers in advance before class snack or treat items are planned and approved.
All items must take into consideration students with food allergies,
religious sensitivities, state nutrition guidelines, and medical
restrictions. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep the
children safe!
We are
looking forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day with the traditional
exchange of cards and a classroom treat of some kind. However, for safety
and nutritional reasons, please do not include candy or other food items
in Valentine cards.
The
