Welcome to Echo Lake Elementary! We are glad you are visiting our web-site today. We have many exciting learning opportunities for our students here at Echo Lake Elementary. Our school serves over 635 children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. We have a variety of special programs ranging from special education classes for students with learning challenges to programs for gifted and talented students. We are also fortunate to have our PTA sponsor after-school enrichment programs for students, such as Spanish, knitting and drama. Our staff is made up of over sixty dedicated teachers with diverse teaching experiences that foster the excellence in our instructional programs. Many of our teachers hold advanced teaching degrees and truly are “life long learners” themselves.
We believe it is important to work as a team to help prepare our children for the challenges of the future. We use a variety of learning strategies to teach children of all ability levels. We look forward to continuing our WATCH D.O.G.S. program getting males more involved in our school. These Dad’s Of Great Students have become an invaluable part of our school community. This fall we are continuing our Dolphin Buddies Program which is a mentor and reading program combined to help foster students’ self-esteem and motivation, while simultaneously enhancing their reading skills. Each year we choose a theme to center our teamwork around for the year. This year our theme is the “Echo Lake Is Out Of This World” We are happily celebrating our 13th year educating children and working with families in our community. We are proud of the traditions we have established at our school and look forward to continuing to build a “Tradition of Excellence”. You will see many signs that the Echo Lake dolphins are hard at work in our school. Hands-on instruction, collaborative teaching, team teaching, and advanced problem-solving techniques are utilized at all grade levels. We are also teaching 21st century skills and utilizing state of the art resources to prepare our students to be successful in a global market place of the future. We are fortunate to have an abundance of 21st century technology resources here at Echo Lake. We utilize Promethean Board technology in multiple grade levels including an interactive board in our media center for all students to use, donated by our PTA. Each day our COWS (computers on wheels) are utilized to offer students opportunities to engage in multi-media projects and presentations. We are grateful to the Henrico County School Board for their support of our innovative educational programs.
Echo Lake Elementary School is located on Francistown Road in Glen Allen, Virginia; a suburb of Richmond. The school borders a small farm on one side and residential areas to our east and south. Protected wetlands form our western border. We have a very supportive PTA that provides exciting learning opportunities for our students to heighten their curiosity about the world around them. We are a school committed to fostering healthy, happy students that value learning. Our parents, teachers, and community work together to help our students excel in school and assist in maintaining a high level of academic success.
