Principal's Message

It is plain to see that at Colonial Trail Elementary, everyone is committed not only to providing a strong academic foundation, but also to providing a nurturing environment in which our children can blossom into successful and productive, global citizens. We all strongly believe that the acquisition of excellent academic skills along with good decision-making capabilities will enable our students to shape their own futures, promote lifelong learners, and environmental stewardship.

Parents naturally play an integral role in our school community.  I encourage you to become an active parent volunteer at CTES.  Many parents enjoy being Mystery Readers or Lunch Helpers. Significant academic gains can occur when special partnerships exist between a healthy school and an involved community. There is a measurable benefit, as well as a feeling of pride and respect, that comes when a school fosters parental and community involvement. Community involvement that flourishes is a powerful thing to witness, and cannot be taken for granted.

We strive to create a positive school climate each day. Successful students are everyone’s responsibility. We also believe that good communication leads to a close-knit community.  Please know that I am only a phone call or email away.  I am also available for drop-ins each day.   School tours for new families can easily be arranged any Friday morning at 10 a.m.  by the principal, school counselor, or resource teacher. When communicating to us by email, please include your telephone number in case we need to contact you in person.

The Colonial Trail Community can indeed be that proverbial village where everyone feels a great sense of pride and ownership in producing world class, self-disciplined, educated, caring citizens who will, in turn, contribute to the well being of their community, state, nation, and world.

In order to meet the specialized needs of our students, several academic programs and guidance programs have been established to teach, remediate and enrich our students. Remediation opportunities are provided to assist struggling students through classroom assistance, peer tutoring, and individualized support from school volunteers. After School Enrichment classes have also been designed to help our students develop their diverse interests, talents, and strengths.

Our students are tomorrow’s leaders. Join us as we move forward each day of the school year at Colonial Trail.  Please consider joining the Colonial Trail PTA. Together, we can achieve the extraordinary!

Thank you,
Philip Cantone,
Principal
