PHILOSOPHY, OBJECTIVES & BELIEFS
We believe that each child is an individual with unique strengths and needs. We strive to provide positive learning experiences that encourage the development of creative interests and abilities. Our goal, with the support of parents and community, is to provide the instruction that will allow each child to reach his/her highest potential and enable him/her to meet the demands of the 21st century. With this in mind, it is our mission to:
*Provide each student a program of instruction that corresponds to the Standards of Learning for English, mathematics, science, and history/social studies.
*Provide students with a safe environment where love, understanding and acceptance flourish.
* Help students acquire a sense of personal worth and dignity and respect the opinions and rights of others.
*Enhance students social responsibilities by providing experiences for their growth and development as individuals and as members of a group.
*Encourage students to develop behavior patterns consistent with democratic values.
* Provide opportunities to develop fundamental and critical thinking skills, study habits, and career awareness.
* Foster in each child an appreciation of music, art, and literature.
* Provide opportunities for students to acquire personal habits that foster continued physical health and fitness.
We also believe that . . .
* All children can learn.
* All children deserve a positive, safe learning environment and the best teachers – both at home and at school.
* Children will meet our expectations.
* Students’ success requires a shared responsibility by students, teachers, families and the community.
* All people deserve respect.
* Students’ learning experiences must prepare them for living successfully in a changing world.
* All children deserve equal educational opportunities in an environment that reflects the diversity of groups in classrooms, schools and society.
