Jacob L. Adams Elementary School was opened in the fall of 1967 for grades 1-6. Dedication services were held on May 19, 1968. At that time, Mr. George H. Moody was Superintendent of Schools.
The school was named in honor of Dr. Jacob L Adams, a prominent local dentist. Dr. Adams was a member of the School Board from 1945 until his death in 1963; he served as chairman of the School Board from 1960-1962.
Mr. James L. Meacham was Principal from the school's opening until 1970.
Mrs. Rebecca Grant became the current principal Fall 2010.
