For the 2010-2011 school year, the Department of Construction and Maintenance will operate and maintain school plant facilities at 70 school sites that include over 7.0 million square feet of floor space and 1,700 acres of land.
To assure safe, effective, and economical operation and maintenance, the facilities are managed by on-site custodial and maintenance teams who are complimented by central office based tradesmen who are skilled in specific building system areas.
The Construction and Maintenance Department includes the school system's supply warehouse which purchases and issues maintenance, custodial, and educational materials to support the maintenance operations and instructional programs.
The department's construction management team who are responsible for all Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) manages the facility construction and renovation projects.
