Henrico Teachers Earn National Board Certification

 

Henrico County Public Schools is proud to announce that 14 teachers have earned National Board Certification in 2011 and that two of the newly certified teachers attended a forum at the White House.

Emma Alcazar from Rolfe Middle School and Pam Holley from Short Pump Middle School were welcomed by Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and White House Domestic Policy Director Melody Barnes.

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) is recognized as the source for the highest standards and practices that lead to improved teaching and learning. National Board Certified Teachers must demonstrate advanced teaching knowledge, skills and practices.

The 14 newly certified teachers are as follows:

  2. Martha Livingston, Ward ES (Literacy:  Reading-Language Arts)
  3. Kari Hall, Dumbarton ES (Early Childhood Generalist)
  4. Shannon Elsea, Davis ES (Middle Childhood Generalist)
  5. Emma Alcazar, Rolfe MS (English Langauge Arts)
  6. Melissa Portella, Rolfe MS (Science)
  7. Anne Fano,Tucker HS (World Languages Other Than English)
  8. Cheryl Weening Boggs, Varina HS (Science)
  9. Jessica Meade, Varina HS (Mathematics)
  10. Pam Galloway, Henrico HS (English Language Arts)
  11. Betsy Walsh, Davis ES (Exceptional Needs Specialist)
  12. Jenny Jacobs Hubler, Glen Lea ES (School Counseling)
  13. Blair Astoria, Ward ES (Exceptional Needs Specialist)
  14. Pam Holley, Short Pump MS (Career/Technical Education)
